Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Multiply Technologies LLC DBA ThingSong ("ThingSong", "we", "us") collects when you use the ThingSong mobile app and website, how we use it, and the choices you have. If you have questions, email hello@thingsong.com.
Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account information: your email address, the stage name you choose, and your confirmation that you are 18 or older.
- Contest entries: the videos you record or upload, the song title, and whether the song is original, in the public domain, or a cover.
- Entry agreements: when you enter a contest, we record your email address, which version of the entry terms you accepted, when you accepted them, and the IP address and device type used. We keep this as proof of the license you grant us for your performance.
- Activity: your audience votes, and any reports you file or users you block. If you are a judge, the scores and notes you give.
- Messages: anything you send us by email.
Information collected automatically
- Technical information: IP address, device and app details, and request logs that our hosting provider records to operate and secure the service.
- Sign-in sessions: a session token stored securely on your device so you stay signed in.
We do not use advertising trackers, and we do not sell your personal information.
How we use information
- To create your account and sign you in with one-time codes sent to your email.
- To run contests: accept entries, show performances, count votes, collect judges' scores, and pick and contact winners.
- To publish approved performances in the app and on the ThingSong YouTube channel, as described in the entry terms you accept.
- To keep ThingSong safe and fair: review entries before they are published, act on reports, enforce one vote per person, and prevent abuse.
- To respond to you, and to comply with legal obligations, including tax reporting for prizes where required.
What other people can see
When your entry is approved, your stage name, performance video, song title and, after a contest closes, your placement and score are visible to other ThingSong users and, for videos posted to YouTube, to the public. Your email address is never shown to other users. Votes are not shown individually.
Service providers
We share information only with providers that help us run ThingSong, and only as needed:
- Cloudflare hosts our servers and database and stores and streams contest videos.
- Resend sends our sign-in and account emails.
- Google / YouTube hosts performances we publish on the ThingSong YouTube channel.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the rights and safety of users or others, or in connection with a merger or sale of ThingSong, in which case this policy would continue to apply to your information.
YouTube API Services
ThingSong uses YouTube API Services to upload approved contest performances to the ThingSong YouTube channel and to remove them when an entry is withdrawn or taken down. ThingSong does not ask you to connect your own YouTube or Google account and does not access your YouTube account data.
Videos published on YouTube are subject to the YouTube Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy. ThingSong's use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
How long we keep information
We keep your account information and entries while your account is open. You can delete your account at any time in the app (Account → Delete my account). When you do:
- We delete your email address and stage name from your account, your sign-in sessions, the users you blocked, and the performance videos ThingSong stores.
- We keep anonymous placeholders for your entries, votes, judge scores and reports, with no name or email attached, so contest counts and past results stay accurate. Your entries are withdrawn from any contest still in progress.
- We keep records of accepted entry terms, including the email address used, because they document the license for performances that were published.
- Performances already published on YouTube stay published under the irrevocable license you granted when you entered. We may remove them at our discretion, for example for safety or legal reasons. Contact hello@thingsong.com if you have a concern about a specific video.
We may also keep information where the law requires it, for example prize and tax records.
Your choices and rights
- Change your stage name or delete your account in the app.
- Ask us for a copy of your information, to correct it, or to delete it by emailing hello@thingsong.com, subject to the records described above.
- Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law. We will honor them and will not treat you differently for using them.
Age requirement
ThingSong is only for people 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We protect information with encryption in transit, hashed sign-in codes and session tokens, and access controls. No service is perfectly secure, so please tell us right away if you notice a problem.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we will update the date above and let you know in the app or by email before they take effect.
